Often, there are situations where trees are the cause agent of litigation.

Trees can experience structural failure with property damages or personal injury. In these scenarios, investigations create the work product for factual decisions to determine the cause and condition which produced the failure.

Trees are bi-modal organisms. They are both botanical and architectural. The “green” nature of a tree is primary—trees either grow or die, there is no static state. The “wood engineering” is a function of that growth and its interaction to the conditions of the site. Understanding the specifics of each species is critical to understanding the condition and causation of events involving trees.

Green trees can fail structurally, even without a weather event. Each tree has a “body language,” and in its tissues—the wood—its story is told. A dead tree also holds a record and a report of its life and cause of death.

Trees and landscapes hold value. Their loss due to physical damage, fire, chemical trespass, or incompetent management can be the source of a financial claim. In cases of disputed values, bona fide appraisals based upon defensible national protocols can be produced.
